Earlier in the evening, I went to an IT centre just opposite the McDs where I had my dinner. After much looking and bargaining, I picked up this Canon CanoScan Lide 100 scanner for RMB380 (~RM177), as well as this cheap photo display for RMB240 (RM112). Been meaning to replace my old scanner, as it’s too big and bulky. The nice part about the CanoScan is that it’s powered by USB, so it doesn’t require an AC adapter.
Tomorrow I’ll be heading over to the NVIDIA Game Fest. Expect updates in the evening, if I’m not too tired.

No Facebook, no Twitter, gaaaaaaah I’m going crazy here in Shanghai. I’ll be in China for the weekend, so this means I’ll be stuck behind the damn Great Firewall for a while.
Since I just renewed my hosting plan, I guess I should finally make use of my blog now.

Last year, Microsoft Hardware Malaysia offered to send me a personalized skinned wireless mouse, so I sent them my design based on a fan art for Hayate the Combat Butler. After 6 long months, I finally got it in the mail. Woohoo!
Okay, half of Maria’s face is gone but at least Hinagiku has her smile.

“An adaptation of the popular arcade and console game series, King of Fighters revolves around the pursuit of three artifacts that will grant their owner unlimited power over reality.”
Also, Kyo Kusanagi is played by a white guy.

And this is my reaction.
Oh God. I didn’t expect Legend of Chun Li to be so lol-worthy bad. I guess my expectations were too high.
Now I can’t wait to watch Dragonball: Evolution in a couple weeks time!

So a commercial for the latest March 2009 Newtype issue has revealed that the second season of Haruhi will be launched in April. Well, that’s really nice news to wake up to. And about damn time, too.
I only hope that when they say ‘April’, they don’t mean a broadcast date of ‘April 2010‘. Well, we’ll find out in a week’s time when the Newtype issue is finally out on the newstands.
UPDATE: Oh God…it’s not a second season. It’s a bloody rerun. I initially did suspect it to be a remake when I recalled earlier news about the so-called “new” Haruhi series being a “relaunch” of the first season. But now it seems to be confirmed that it’s not a second season.
You know what’s worse than not releasing any news on a series sequel? It’s raising fans’ hopes and then crushing them. This isn’t just terrible marketing: it’s MEAN. Who the HELL thought trolling fans was a good thing? Whoever thought this was a ’smart’ way of bringing in new viewers or reigning in loyal fans should be fired immediately and pushed onto railroad tracks.
I don’t really blame KyoAni for this fiasco since I doubt they have much say on how to promote their series. If anything, I’d blame Kadokawa, the main publisher and licensor of the Haruhi franchise. They should know better. But it looks like they don’t.
The fans backlash isn’t going to be pretty.

January is a lousy month for games. Most AAA titles are released during Christmas or the month before, and with all the mega titles already out, this month is proving to be a ‘meh’ month for games. But at least I’ve more time to finish the games that I’ve yet to complete let alone start - I’ve finished Fallout 3, and I want to complete GTAIV.
The upcoming Chinese New Year break means I’ve to rush the magazine earlier, and I’m trying to clear as much as I can before I leave for China next week for a friend’s wedding dinner.

It’s the Year of the Ox and according to my horoscope, I’m going to have a fantastic year. ^_^ Probably the only disappointing news that I learned from Kurogane was that Aya Hirano has already left the country…sigh, and I had even printed an interview request letter for her. Oh well, I guess there could be another time - she did leave the country with a fairly positive impression, so maybe she might return again some day.
I’m gonna chill out today and enjoy a nice simple lunch with my friend. Probably do some grocery shopping as well as catch up on the anime series that’s currently on my backlog.
