Kaiji Live Action Movie Coming to Malaysia, March 11th

kaiji_lowres

Just received a press release from UIP Malaysia that they will be bringing in the Kaiji Live Action movie this March 11th, 2010. Sweet! With the Eva 2.0 movie also screening in the same month and an upcoming May’N concert, it looks like March is going to be an entertaining month for Malaysian anime and manga fans.

KOFXII Patch Update lolwhut

kofxii_update.jpg

lol whut? 772 MB for a ‘patch’? That’s a whole freaking PS1 game! The worst part is that if the patch download fails, I need to restart ALL. OVER. AGAIN. WTF?

As much as I love KOF, this game was clearly released unfinished. And I don’t understand why it took them so long to release such barebones gameplay features when BlazBlue has tons more stuff in it…and more eye candy too. Perhaps they were too busy spending their resources on Witch Tits Touching 2.

The huge patch update is giving me Summer Days deja vu.

6 Endless Eight episodes…WTF

son_of_a_bitch.jpg

Tonight’s episode of Endless Eight sees Kyon failing to stop Haruhi repeating the summer. AGAIN. That means next week will be Endless Eight. AGAIN. Next week’s episode will make it the 6th episode dedicated to Endless Eight. Will it be the last? Who knows.

I can’t imagine any producer or studio ballsy enough to reanimate the same episode 6 freaking times (or to be exact, 5 times since the gang doesn’t realize it until the 2nd episode). I’ll be both impressed and disgusted if they actually go and do a whole 8 episodes of the same story. It’d be worse than a standard Naruto recap episode. But with the new Summer episodes already out, I already have better things to watch. Let me know when they finally break this ridiculous time loop.

Blood: The Last Vampire (2009) Review

blood_last_vampire.jpg

A bloody mess in more ways than one.

Where do I start? The wooden acting? The Engrish lines? Poorly edited fighting and story scenes? The incredibly obvious CG blood and monsters? Or the stupifying ending that left half the audience speechless? It’s all of them, really. Continue Reading »

I’m a guy but when I saw the AMAZING kissing scene, I squealed like a fangirl. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

EDIT:: Someone made an animated GIF version of the kiss. It’s small, but you can feel the sensuality and passion behind the kiss. It’s probably one of the best kissing scenes in anime. Period.

Danny Choo Interview

When I was in Tokyo last month, I had the opportunity to interview Danny Choo, popular anime and figurine blogger. It was really neat to meet him in person, and he was generous enough to even bring some free figurines for me and Solomon Freeman, a mate who helped to arrange the interview. So for those who’ll be attending the Animax blog workshop this November 19th, you’re definitely going to have a great time since he’s going to be giving away freebies. I’ll actually be in Singapore on the same day due to another event, but I’ll be going back to Malaysia in the afternoon, so I can’t make it for the workshop nor meet him. :/

As promised in my earlier post, I’ve uploaded the 2-page interview from our November 2008 issue so check it out if you’ve the time. It’s basically an interview to introduce new readers to DannyChoo.com and to shed some light on why Danny blogs the way he does.

GameAxis Unwired Malaysia November 2008

The November 2008 issue of GameAxis Malaysia should be out by now and this month, we bring to you the latest videogame previews and reviews from the Tokyo Game Show 2008 and elsewhere. Also this month, I manage to interview Danny Choo from DannyChoo.com in which he reveals his plans for a new short movie clip staring the Tokyo Trooper as a salary man. For those who just want to read the interview with Danny, I’ll be putting up a PDF version of the interview soon. But those who want to read our TGS2008 cover story will have to support the mag by buying it. ;)

I recently played through Rhapsody for the DS and I enjoyed it, even though the gameplay is ridiculously simple. It’s a charming little RPG for players new to the genre, and to a certain extent it’s also very appealing for girl gamers for its light-hearted theme (the main character uses a horn to summon various desserts to attack her enemies). I’m now going through another NIS game - Disgaea DS - which is the total opposite of Rhapsody. While Rhapsody took me less than 10 hours to complete, Disgaea is going to take me a long, long time to complete, according to my experience with the PS2 version.

TGS 2008 Booth Babes

The TGS 2008 may already be over, but I still see some news trickling out here and there, since the game show wasn’t terribly exciting this year. Also for people who were disappointed with the recent E3 clampdown on skimpily-dressed booth babes, they could find some solace with the booth babes at the TGS2008. Most of them were dressed pretty classily, though some dared to show off their waists. I wasn’t able to take pics of all of the booth babes due to lack of time (I was too busy playing the latest game demos and watching game trailers) but I still managed to compile an adequate pictorial collection of the booth babes of the show.

Much more pictures after the jump! To view a larger size of the image, right-click and select ‘View Image’ in Firefox.  Continue Reading »

Akiba Schwag

akiba_cosplay.jpg

I haven’t been able to blog about my trip in Japan recently as usually at the end of the day, I’m so pooped from walking around that I usually head to bed immediately. That, and the hotel Wi-Fi has been very iffy for the past couple days. The good news is that the connection seems much better now. For now, here are some pictures of the schwag that I’ve gotten so far from Akihabara a couple days ago.

Besides getting the G’s Festival November issue for the Haruka Nogizaka Oppai Pad, I got a bunch of Lucky Star fortune slips and some miscellaneous anime bookmarks for dropping a small fortune (oh hey, pun! I so smart) at Gamers. I got one Excellent Luck, 1 Good Luck, 5 Normal (half?) Luck, and one Bad Luck.

The Haruka Nogizaka Oppai Pad packaging, which also contained 2 badges of Toradora and To Aru Majutsu no Index, and 3 mobile stickers. I also picked up a copy of Takamichi’s collected artwork. Those Lucky Star stickers were free.

Was around the Tokyo Anime Center where they announced the 2nd season of Spicy Wolf. The announcement was made at the 15th anniversary event for ASCII Media Works, the main publisher behind light novel series such as Shakugan no Shana and Spicy Wolf. There was an artbook for Spicy Wolf which quickly sold out, but there were plenty of Horo’s Canned Apple Juice, which came in two different designs at 150 yen (RM5) each, so I bought both of them. There were also lots of Spicy Wolf paraphernalia, such as pencil boards, stickers, stationery, and plushies, but I decided to spare my wallet.

Success! I managed to obtain the discontinued and hard-to-get Lucky Star pair Kagami and Tsukasa Hiiragi miko pair at Gamers. Got them at 8033 yen (RM282).

Yeap, I visited a meido cafe. It was a fairly normal one, located on the 3rd floor of a shoplot. I wasn’t allowed to take any pictures of the premise, and they were charging 500 yen (RM17) to take a picture with one maid. Still, they let me take this banner home since it was my first time at a meido cafe.

Basically at Akihabara, I spent most of my time looking at the various anime and H-manga titles. I also spent quite a bit of time at the arcade, playing Konami’s new music simulator Jubeat, and Capcom’s Street Fighter 4. I found Jubeat fun while Street Fighter 4 boring. Yeah, yeah, SNK fanboy here. I’m not denying that SF4 looks great, but the gameplay feels and plays very Street Fighter II Turbo.  I haven’t seen many people taking advantage of the new feint/move cancel gameplay. At this rate, I still prefer Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

I gotta rest up for tomorrow’s Tokyo Game Show 2008. I’ll be posting some TGS updates on The Zone from my notebook so check it out if you want to see the latest photos from TGS2008!
