Malaysia PS3 Pre-launch (night)
12 hours have passed since I last visited the launch event area in the morning. The queue has grown considerably (there’re more than 50 people waiting in line now), and the players taking part in the 24-hour gaming marathon continues to see a steady stream of players replacing other contestants when they lose their matches.
Another tent appears in the queue!
It’s kinda ironic to see people passing the time playing an ‘old skool’ tabletop game like Risk while waiting in line to buy a digital interactive entertainment device.
Fancy yourself to be Nightmare or Siegfried? Just pose your face into the cutouts and you can be just like them instantly!
(incidentally, Nightmare is banned from usage in the competition)
Gamers trudging on through the night to rack up more wins for the 24-hour gaming marathon.
Drowsiness starts to creep into player mutsumi of Lowyat forums as he plays against a French uni student who’s studying locally here. The French student in the blue jersey has been been playing the game non-stop since this morning. When asked how he felt so far, he said that he isn’t going to touch Soul Calibur IV for a long time after tonight. LOL
Among the people who are queuing up for the PS3 tonight is this brother-sister pair who came all the way from Ipoh after hearing about the launch. It looks like they’re within the top 50.
Young families also took part in the queue, though only daddy is going to stay up all night for the event.
Staying connected all night long means the night won’t be that boring.
Most of the games there are actually being sold at fairly reasonable prices. The most expensive title was RM199, which was inexplicably for the latest dud Haze. However, Soul Calibur IV is retailing for a respectable RM169 (if my memory serves me right) while Siren: New Translation is selling for RM10 more. The remote control is retailing for RM109 while the new DualShock 3 controller is going for RM169.
The main stage at night. How will it look in the next 12 hours, when the PS3 game console is officially launched in Malaysia?
One response so far
